2019 Acura MDX
With some cosmetic upgrades, a newly redesigned interior, and an all-new trim level, the 2019 Acura MDX is the envy of the midsize luxury SUV realm. Of all these updates, the addition of the A-Spec trim is by far the most exciting, taking the sportiness of the MDX to another level. Regardless of your wants and needs, the MDX is proof that a luxury SUV can be eye-catching, convenient, and comfortable without being pretentious.
Trim Levels
For the 2019 model year, the Acura MDX comes in a standard model that's also available with four packages: Technology Package, A-Spec Package, Advance Package, and Entertainment Package. The base model offers dual exhaust, a power tailgate, a power moonroof, 18-inch five-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, power heated side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, and Acura's signature Jewel Eye LED headlights. The Technology Package gets 20-inch 10-spoke aluminum alloy wheels and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Opt for the all-new A-Spec Package and you're greeted with LED fog lights, 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, and a body kit that enhances the aesthetic appeal and aerodynamics of the vehicle. To round out the lineup, the Entertainment Package adds exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels, auto-dimming side mirrors, and roof rails. Make a statement in the 2019 Acura MDX with your choice of nine colors Gunmetal, Fathom Blue, Apex Blue, Performance Red, Canyon Bronze, Majestic Black, Modern Steel, Lunar Silver, or White Diamond.
Engine
The 2019 Acura MDX comes equipped with two engine options. With 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque, the standard 3.5-liter V-6 is anything but ordinary. Paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive, and paddle shifters for clutchless manual gear changes, this engine can burn some serious rubber. If you want a better balance of performance and efficiency, the MDX's available Sport Hybrid powertrain should more than suffice. Boasting a trio of electric motors, a lithium-ion battery pack, and a 3.0-liter V-6, the MDX Sport Hybrid kicks out 289 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque. This pairs with super-handling all-wheel drive for a stellar driving experience.
Performance
With the volatility of gas prices, it's nice to know that the 2019 Acura MDX has some of the best fuel economy numbers in the industry. The Sport Hybrid offers 27 mpg on the highway and 26 mpg in the city, while the 3.5-liter V-6 gets 27 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg in the city.
Interior
Opulence is one of the superb attributes of the MDX's interior, offering standard features like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather seating, tri-zone automatic climate control, premium sound, and heated front seats. Third-row seating allows room for up to seven passengers and 15 cubic feet of cargo space. For even more space, fold down the second row of seats for 38.4 cubic feet or both rows for 68.4 cubic feet of storage area.
Safety Features
Thanks to the AcuraWatch suite of driver-assist safety features, the 2019 Acura MDX earns a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, including perfect scores in front and side crash testing. Designed to protect you, other motorists, and pedestrians, AcuraWatch offers collision-mitigation braking, road-departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist.
